DISCOVER THE STUDIO
Studio Hiedra [pronounced ee-ae-dra]
'Hiedra' means 'Ivy' in Spanish and it is an ancient symbol that has been used through the ages to represent eternal love, friendship and affection. At Studio Hiedra, we aim to create timeless and modern heirlooms that mix form and simplicy to be cherished forever. Using traditional craftmanship techniques each piece is carefully hand crafted, therefore, no two pieces are ever the same. These organic shapes and textures celebrate the marks of the maker and they are meant to be a recollection of memories or a celebration of moments captured in time.
Our Story
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Cindy Yoon has a background in Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design and went on to work for various design companies throughout her career. In 2021, in the throes of Covid19, she left her corporate job in NYC and ended up in Seoul, South Korea, her motherland. Jewelry making had always been her long time hobby and it was there that she rekindled her passion for jewelry. In 2022, Cindy Yoon founded Studio Hiedra. Her aesthetic approach to jewelry is stimulated by her love of the process. Now back in her home studio in NJ, she works with the ancient technique of lost wax casting, a process where each piece is hand carved in wax and then cast in precious metals. The creation process is intuitive with a playful approach to the design process, where each piece is imagined and worked through various techniques that create the unique organic forms that become miniature wearable pieces of art.
